2004-02 Gran Canaria: Notes & Comments

Things I learned whilst on this trip:

As I did , I’m using GoNuts4Free as my Internet Service Provider (ISP).

GoNuts4Free is the only free ISP for Spain (of which I know). How they justify this I don’t know, but they’ve been invaluable during our .

Unfortunately I’d lost the password they provide on their web site. Thanks to , who contacted tech support and passed the results on to me via , I’m back on-line.

(The only other configuration information I had was the DNS machines, 80.58.0.33 and 80.58.32.97, and several other Point of Presence phone numbers in case Telefonica had problems with the main number. Check their web site for current values for everything.)

    During dinners and breakfasts with

    I had my

chugging away on the only modem connection it’s ever known. About 85 per cent of the pictures for this trip got uploaded at first, with the rest following (as the flakey connection allowed to pass).

The one time I connected to get email I saw 5804 missives from the various mailing lists and spam from the two recent worms which hit Windows machines. Rather than downloading this mess via modem and sifting through them whilst on vacation I suspect I’ll just wait and grab them all from

via a high-speed connection. If you’ve sent me email you’ll have to wait just a bit more before I read it. Sorry.)

Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me . Thanks!
