Burning Man 1998: Pyrotechnics
I rarely bother trying to take photographs of the pyrotechnic events. My camera isn’t set up for that sort of thing. But this year, while on patrol, I heard and saw a deep roar, flash of flame, and smoke rings. I set out to survey the scene. Here’s what I saw.
Then I saw the result! A ball of smoke which becomes a smoke ring over ten or twenty seconds. Wow!
While we’re on the topic of heat and flame, this is typical sight for a Ranger on patrol: smoke elsewhere. Is it safe? In control? Or did someone – as they did in 1997 – stoke a fire too near nylon tents and torch part of a theme camp? Camp Up In Smoke?
