    Speaker’s Corner:

It was another beautifully warm day in London when we headed out to Speaker’s Corner, a Sunday ritual in rain or shine, weather fair or foul. It was time for Isaac to see the allure of free speech. This time we took the double-decker busses from our hotel to the park. There we found shade under a tree, unfolded a blanket, and set up shop.

Just on the other side of the wrought iron railing from our picnic spot were people pontificating. My favorite was this well-dressed gentleman standing on the Catholic Evidence Guild podium he’d carried to the park. Every few feet someone would be holding forth, and the better the oration the better the hecklers. All sorts of viewpoints were represented that day, cheek by jowl, without an angry murmur. This is a diety; there isn’t one. Socialism is the best form of governance; it isn’t. The New Testament is a fraud; no way. And so on. There was a good number of constables present, but they weren’t called into service while we were there.

In what’s become regular behavior with our six-month-old Romeo, here’s a picture of Isaac chatting up a winsome Indian / British lass; an older woman (by a few months) to be sure. They were making eyes and batting hands through the railing. He’s quite the schmoozer, our boy.

Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me . Thanks!
